Robert is an industry leader in deliverability and currently serves as the Director of Global Deliverability & ISP relations at Adobe. What do you get excited about in the email world?

Witnessing the progression of a move to more engaged interactions between senders and recipients.

What part of an email is the most important to drive success and why?

Engagement/Welcome email/strategy! Without relationships, you’re setting up your entire email strategy for trouble. Start smart with a strong relationship with every customer/recipient.

What advice do you have for newcomers to the email industry?

Do your homework. There’s a lot to good email deliverability best practices and without the right practices in place you’re certain to encounter challenges. There are many sites, documents and webinars that can help you get up to speed quickly.

Who is a brand that you think does a great job with their email program? What do you like about their email program?

Disney. They provide relevant emails that are timely and typically targeted to my needs/wants.

What ideas are you excited about sharing at EiQ?

I’m looking forward to sharing a somewhat different perspective than other panelists, speaking more to the delivery side rather than the marketing side.

What’s your favorite thing about Atlanta? If you haven’t been here before, what’s on your list to see and do?

Ponce City Market.  A must do!

From a career standpoint, how did you end up in email?

Started in TechOps as an email Administrator.  The path was pretty straightforward from there!
