One thing that we love about working on the email program for our client Mizuno is the passion and conviction they have—both the company and the fans. Mizuno truly believes that running is powerful, that it can change the world one person at a time. It’s pretty easy to get infected with that kind of positive thinking and take to the open road (even with two beers on tap that are always calling our names).
They recently backed up those convictions with a cool initiative called the Mizuno Baton. Runners of all skill levels downloaded an app that tracked their distance for one week. For each mile ran while carrying the “baton,” Mizuno donated $1 to the charity Back on My Feet. It’s an inspiring organization that uses running to help those experiencing homelessness change the way they see themselves, leading to results in terms employment and living situation.
So, here’s the kicker: runners around the world logged 87,000 miles, which translated into $87,000 donated to the charity. That’s the equivalent of running three times around the earth, to put it in perspective.
Our BrightWave crew couldn’t help but picking up the baton, too. Five members of our team logged 110.63 miles over the course of a week. It’s a small accomplishment—but we’re happy to have pitched in to this worthy cause. Pictured here is the top runner, Campaign Manager (& Noted Hand Model) Ms. Laura Sutton, who clocked a whopping 33.40 miles in one week. Take that homelessness!
