Still, awards and recognition are nice. Who doesn’t want to get recognized outside the inbox? That’s why we’re pretty excited to be selected as a finalist for MediaPost’s Email Insider Summit (EIS) awards.
The EIS awards is a competition that recognizes email marketing excellence — outstanding initiatives undertaken by brands and their agencies.
Now that our work for Synovus is a finalist for best Email Marketing Sector Campaign in the Financial category, it’s up to MediaPost’s members to vote for the winner of each category.
Why we worked.
Synovus isn’t your ordinary bank. It’s a modern finance company with deep roots in the local community, specifically its home state of Georgia. So when Synovus launched a blockbuster credit card promo, they called on BrightWave — their email agency of record — to drive credit card sign-ups via email.
Existing customers without a credit card could sign up for a Synovus Rewards Credit Card featuring 0% APR with a $200 cash back incentive. Pretty good deal, right? We thought so, too.
What we did.
Extraordinary products require extraordinary work, so we started this project from scratch. We’re talking a complete refresh that looked and felt different from any previous credit card offer.
We wanted this new campaign to be highly visual and brimming with easily digestible content. To accomplish this dual mission, we simplified the copy and used larger font sizes that grabbed the reader and highlighted the offer. Bold, contrasting colors and eye-catching CTAs drew attention to the promotion and invited customers to take action.
Why we’re proud.
Of course, the coolest copy and design won’t mean a thing if it doesn’t drive impact. And this Synovus campaign generated some pretty impressive results. While open and click through rates were well above the industry average, the most exciting and impactful stat was the number of account signups generated from a single email.
In the first 15 hours after deployment, the campaign prompted 794 people to fill out a credit card application. This was a huge win for Synovus and the highest number of online applications they’ve ever received in a single day.
